The GridLogics Vision application encompasses multiple aspects of power quality analytics, outage mitigation, detection, restoration and reliability reporting.

  • Outage Management & Analysis
    Restoring power safely and efficiently is key to customer satisfaction. Focus Energy has proven solutions to both proactively generate accurate trouble tickets using Smart Meters, and manage outages during the restoration process. Traditional restoration approaches often make it difficult for field crews to accurately understand the extent of an outage and then confirm all customers have been restored prior to leaving an area. Focus Energy’s Outage Management tool puts the power of the Smart Grid into the hands of Restoration Crews. With the network topology, trouble tickets, real-time Smart meter outage integration, weather information, routing, crew locations, and more utility personnel have a real-time mobile and spatial situational awareness tool to enhance the restoration process.
  • Equipment Failure Prediction
    Moving from a reactive to a proactive organization requires utilities to leverage technology and advanced analytics. Power outages and low power quality have an impact on reliability, customer service and costs. Utilities have a growing portfolio of data from Substations, Distribution Automation devices and Smart Meters. Using machine-learning techniques for anomaly detection, Focus Energy can extract actionable intelligence from these data sources to help prevent and/or reduce the impact of power quality issues and outages.
  • Topology Correction
    As more systems are automated through the use of Smart Meter technology, processes like outage management and proactive customer communication rely heavily on an accurate network topology model. The accuracy of the GIS connection between a premise and its transformer is something that utilities have been struggling to correct for years. These errors can cause safety issues, delayed restoration, inaccurate customer communication, and invalid transformer-level analytics. Historically, to correct these topology errors utilities would implement manual processes that included post-analysis of customer outages and field checks. Using information from Smart Meters, in conjunction with an advanced algorithm developed by Focus Energy, utilities can now automatically correct these errors without the need for an outage. In addition to the automatic corrections, the user interface allows for auditing proposed corrections, and to easily make changes as needed.
  • AMI Operations Alerting
    Monitoring the health of your AMI network can identify areas of improvement to reduce impact of customer claims, and improve outage management response. Detect Hot Socket issues, AMI network device health and battery monitoring, outage reporting metrics (receipt rate and latency), billing read performance, and unread meter reporting.

Accurate forecast of demand are integral to reliable, low cost operations of the utility grid. Focus Energy has worked with power delivery engineers, field crews, retail energy providers and load serving entities to provide them with more accurate and granular load forecasts.
